Make Your Own…

jeweledearringsheader

Making jewelry does not have to be hard or require a lot of precision! I made these earrings to go with my Jeweled Leather Skirt. I used pieces that I had left over of clear plastic vinyl as the foundation, and I added my gem stones on the vinyl.

Gem Earrings materials

The Materials:

  • Gem stones/beads in your favorite color
  • Scrap piece of plastic vinyl
  • All purpose glue
  • Earring backs

How-To:

  1. Take your scrap piece of vinyl and place the beads/pearls in pattern that you like
  2. Glue the pearls in place
  3. Cut away excess vinyl around edges
  4. Glue on the earring backs
  5. Wear it!

Thrifted Lace Dress – Work in Progress

I found this amazing dress at a thrift shop in the East Village. I immediately fell in love with the fabric, it is made in 100% cotton lining and lace. And the edges are all finished of by using bias binding. But as you can see the fit isn’t very modern, so my plan is to make this dress into a crop top and a tight fitted pencil skirt to go with it. Any other ideas?

Make Your Own…

satchel header

My vinyl-obsession started about 6 months ago, when I first started experimenting with the material. I bought some clear vinyl and started cutting and sewing. I was so surprised that it was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. There is no seam finish needed to be done, and it worked fine with a regular machine needle. So I started off figuring out how I would cut out the pieces to make the assembling as easy as possible.

Make Your Own…

skirt header

I love this project because it is so easy, and is really easy to personalize. Every time I’ve worn my skirt out I’ve received so many comments for it ! You can buy your skirt or make your own. I bought mine in faux leather from H&M. This is the perfect way to pimp up your old skirt that you have become tired of!

Swedish Midsummer Celebration

Every year in June, Swedes celebrate “Midsommar”. We make flower crowns, dance around a may pole (majstang), sing songs and dance different dances. People also dress up in traditional clothing, and everyone no matter age participates. I had so much fun celebrating my Midsummer in NYC this year, introducing the tradition to all the non Swedish friends that I have here. We had a blast listening to Swedish songs and dancing around the may pole together. We spent half of the day at my friends terrace making the flower crowns, and later we joined the Swedish Midsummer Celebration in Battery Park.

Shourouk Inspiration

I just can’t get enough of Shourouk‘s amazing vinyl handbags! I love how they use vinyl with different texture to make it look like different materials, and of course the embellishment! However, I can’t really make up my mind if I love or if it is a little bit too much… the vinyl itself is so pretty. Check out my own DIY vinyl handbag here.

Make Your Own…

dipped hem

I have been wanting to share this project for quite some time know. When I made this pattern, I really wanted to make a skirt that I could use on a hot summer day, as well as with a blazer for work. The jersey fabric makes it super soft and comfortable, and it requires no hem. Get the pattern, complete with instructions, to make your own skirt here.
